Vasyl Pokynchereda (deputy of scientific research and international cooperation at Carpathian Biosphere Reserve) will together with Roman Kuzminskyy present the experiences of Wilderness Stewardship, challenges and successes in Carpathian Biosphere Reserve; written by Vasyl Pokynchereda and Mykola Rybaks. This Reserve hosts the most attractive Wilderness in Ukraine, and includes many areas of Wilderness which are part of the European Wilderness Network.
Vasyl Pokynchereda will share the development of the new 10-year management plan which includes elements of Wilderness stewardship. This presentation will also showcase the potential for enlargement of Wilderness, whilst simultaneously managing the growing impact of livestock grazing, tourism and timber industry in the surroundings.
